Keyword Density – Optimize for Business Success, Not For Search Engines!

Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing in general is something that you’re already aware that you need to be doing, and keyword density is just a very small factor in article and page content.  Depending which SEO Company you talk you they’ll either tell you that it’s critical or not, but one thing is for sure, it’s a determining factor for search engines!

There’s no single company that actually can give you a definitive answer as to how much keyword density is too much as the algorithms created by Google are kept secret.  We do know however that if your keyword density is higher than 5%, you’re pretty much wasting your time writing content!  How do we know this?  We’ve tested it.  Big Red SEO is a leading SEO Company in Nebraska that not only helps users achieve higher rankings, but we’ve tested the methods over the past 15 years, and we know what works and doesn’t work!

To understand how many keywords shoudl be on a page you will need to understand how the math is generated to determine it.

Keyword density is a percentage of the total words on a page.
If you have 150 words on a page, and you’re using a keyword 7 times in that content, the keyword is determined by the following:
7 (keyword usage) divided by 150 = 0.0467 or 4.67%

The standard keyword density is between 3% and 5%.  If you increase more than 5% you run the risk of having your page rejected by the search engines as you’re essentially spamming your keyword to the engine. DON’T DO IT!!

Keep the keyword density to between 3% and 5% and you’ll be fine.  Keywords can be more than just ONE word, it can be “keyword phrase”, and plurals count too.  People don’t search for “seo” they search for “seo service”, and more often than not, they narrow that down to “seo service in omaha” or “seo company in omaha” or even “seo company in omaha nebraska”.  Structure your site and pages to cater to these words, and you’ll see your site climb in the search engines, and convert to traffic.

While keywords are an important factor for search engine placement, understanding other elements such as links, meta tags, anchor text, press releases, article submission, rss pings and general site navigation are just as equally important.  When you employ the services of Big Red SEO we take each of these factors into account and can definitely help with your search engine rankings.  The goal is to make it easy for your clients to find you, and experienced search results companies can do this for you.  SEO can have a lasting impression on search engines.  Do it wrong, or hire the wrong company that spams your information, and you can quickly find that search engines don’t want anything to do with your site and will boycot or blacklist your site from rankings.
